Mary Catherine "Cathy" Emmett

Cathy Emmett of Lake Wales passed away Saturday, May 21, 2011 at her residence.

Born August 3, 1937 in Georgia, to the late Jesse Daniel and Vera Lucille (Lott) Partin, she was a lifelong resident of the Lake Wales area. She was a homemaker and a member of Central Avenue Baptist Church. A wonderful example of Christian love, she always went out of her way to help others. She was an accomplished cook, and her greatest pleasure was cooking and hosting Sunday dinners for her entire family every Sunday. She loved gardening, reading, cooking and spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the loves of her life.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse D. and Vera L. Partin; and son, Kevin Emmett (8 years ago).

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Afton Emmett; daughters, Marsha Kincaid (Alan) of Lake Wales, and Paula Peterson (Ronnie) of Lake Wales; son, Keith Emmett (Sara) of Winter Haven; sister, Joy Crunkleton of Avon Park; brother, Randy Partin of Denton, TX; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM, Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Bolden officiating. Interment will be held at the Lake Wales Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 25, from 2:00 PM until service time.
