Mary Irene Downing, 91

Mary Irene Downing of Frostproof passed away Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Somers Hospice House in Sebring.

She was born January 25, 1932 in Qulin, Missouri to the late Salis and Leona Hester; she moved to Frostproof from Roxana, Illinois in 2003. Mary was a Nursing Assistant for 20 years and volunteered at the Frostproof Care Center and several other organizations. She was a member of New Hope Church in Frostproof but she volunteered at other churches and was previously a Sunday School Teacher. She loved pets and her family dearly.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, R.C. Downing in 2015; daughter, Beverly Patterson; and brother and sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Debra Riley and husband James of Frostproof; son, Danny Downing of Frostproof; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A meet and greet will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 14, 2023 at New Hope Church in Frostproof.
