MARY JANE COTTON, 83 Mary J. Cotton of Frostproof, Florida passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Somers Hospice House. She was born April 16, 1933 in Hambleton, West Virginia to the late Paul R. and Margaret (Flanagan) Mateer. She was an Administrative Secretary for J. Edgar Hoover. She was Valedictorian of the class of 1951. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Frostproof. She is survived by her husband Arthur Cotton of Frostproof, FL, daughters Brenda Pennington of Mclean, VA, Linda Bastien and husband James of Bellair Beach, FL, son Dr. Jeffrey Cotton of Pompano Beach, FL, sister Margaret Sue Mateer Ager of Berwick, PA, brother Paul R. Mateer Jr of Oakland, MD, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Memorial service will be held 11:00AM Saturday, September 3, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church of Frostproof with Rev. Buzzy Elder and Rev. Brian Smith officiating. There will be a family and friend’s reception on Friday, September 2, 2016 from 6:00-8:00PM at the First United Methodist Church Frostproof. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to either the Methodist Church Kitchen Fund or Somers Hospice House in Sebring.
