LAKE WALES--Marvin Walter Smith, 86, of Lake Wales died of heart failure Friday, September 21, 2007 at his home.

Born December 17, 1920 in Indian Mound, TN; he has been a resident of Florida for 45 years moving to Lake Wales from Avon Park 30 years ago. He was a retired self-employed mobile home developer. He was a member of the Central Avenue Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Cockrell Smith in 2002; and his parents, Walter & Beuna (Gillum) Smith. Survivors include his daughters, Shirley Hayes of Mulberry; Joyce Williams of Texas, Peggy Hawn of Avon Park; son, Dale Smith of Lake Wales; sisters, Irene Norfleet of TN; Francis Byrd of TN; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM, Monday, September 24, 2007 at the Central Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Cooper officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
