Marvin L. “Mickey” Shealey, 64, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. Mickey was born on November 19, 1951 in Thomasville, Georgia to Lonnie and Virginia Shealey. Mickey moved to Mulberry, Florida at a young age and remained in Mulberry throughout his life. He graduated from Mulberry Senior High and worked at Florida Metallizing for 39 years. Mickey loved fishing and hunting and spending time at “The Creek”. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and loved sitting around the campfire. He also enjoyed going out on the boat and being on the water. He was known by his friends and family as a person who loved to laugh and have fun. Mickey was an excellent cook, especially on the barbecue grill and he built all of the grills he cooked on. He was an excellent handyman and could build or repair anything. He loved his family and friends and also loved to drink a Budweiser. Mickey also greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and teaching them how to do the things that he loved. Mickey was preceded in death by his father, Lonnie Shealey; mother, Virginia Shealey; sister, Terrye Shealey; and his grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Sheila Shealey; daughter, Jeni Smith (Richard); son, Michael Shealey; step-son, Kris Pugmire (Jennifer); and aunt, Bettye Williams (Hal). Mickey is also survived by his grandchildren, Austin, Dillon, Abigail and Brielle; and his baby girl, Prissie. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the service at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home, 454 South Buck Moore Road, Lake Wales. There will also be a celebration of life on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 12 noon at 6443 West Newman Circle, Lakeland, FL 33811.
