Martha Lou Allen Avirett

Martha Allen Avirett, 87, of Lake Wales passed away Monday, May 18, 2015 at her residence.

She was born December 29, 1927 in New Albany, Mississippi and she has been a resident of this area since 1963 moving here from New Albany. She was a homemaker and enjoyed flower gardening, Martha was a great cook and loved being with her family and taking care of everyone she could. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, David Allen in 1988; second husband Buddy Avirett 1995; son, Waymon Allen; 1 grandson Kyle Allen and 2 great grandchildren, Mason Allen and Xavior Koloc; 5 sisters and 2 brothers.

Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn Avirett and husband Tom of Lake Wales, Tina Shores of Lake Wales; sons, Dwight Allen and wife Julie Speight of Ft. Meade, Charles Allen and wife Regina of Lithia; 11 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, May 21, 2015 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Smith officiating.
Interment will be held at the Lake Wales Cemetery.

Family will receive friends on Thursday from 10:00 am until service time.
