Mark Edward LeVine of Lakeland passed away Sunday, April 18, 2010 at his residence.
He was born February 3, 1950 in Miami to the late Lloyd and Hazel (Pendergraft) LeVine. For 34 years he served in law enforcement. He began his career at Miami Beach Police Department. In 1981 he moved to Lake Wales where he rose to the rank of Police Chief. After retiring from Lake Wales, he taught for two years at the PCC Police Academy before accepting the position as Police Chief of Winter Haven. Prior to his career in law enforcement, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lake Wales, and Church of the Resurrection in Lakeland. He loved to create stain glass, and loved the outdoors, family times, and was a Bucs and Rays fan.
Survivors include his wife Sharon S. LeVine; daughter, April LeVine of Tampa and her boyfriend, Jeremy Larson; son, Kevin LeVine and his wife, Amanda of Lakeland; brother, Ross LeVine of Miami; and two grandchildren, Faith and James.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, April 22, 2010 at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lake Wales with Father Anthony Bluett and Father Felix Banos officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 22, 2010 at the Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota.
