Marian G Turnquist

Marian G. Turnquist peacefully passed to glory at Life Care Center of Winter Haven, FL early Saturday morning October 24, 2015.

She was born in Estherville, Iowa on July 15,1918. The family moved to Minneapolis, MN when Marian was a senior in high school. She attended the University of Minnesota and was a member of Chi Omega sorority. During a summer break from the university she worked at a resort in northern Wisconsin where she met her future husband, Warner. After graduation they married and moved to Lake Wales, FL in 1939. Later,after earning her teaching degree at Florida Southern College she taught elementary school for 15 years and was always fond of the students she guided and nurtured, including a special class in fourth grade.

Marian was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Some of her varied interests were Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, church Youth league, Circle and Sunday School. She worked many years with Warner at the LW Little League baseball concession stand. She always loved working with and being around young people.

She was preceded in death by Warner Turnquist her husband of 53 years ,her parents Rueben and Nellie Gordinier, a brother Sheldon Gordinier and a grandson Steven Marschke. She is survived by daughter Gay A. Marschke and her husband Carl R. Marschke of Phillips,WI. And son, Lee W. Turnquist and his wife Nancy of Lake Wales, Fl.

Visitation will be 3:00pm, Monday, Nov 2, 2015 with a memorial service at 4:00pm at Marian Nelson
Funeral Home.
