Marian C. Towns

Marian C. Towns, 91 of Lake Wales, Florida passed away Friday, July 13, 2018 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.
She was born on July 27, 1926 in Orlando, Florida to the late William B. and Frances (Millar) Cadle. She has been a resident of the area since 1951, moving here from Sebring, Florida.
Marian was a warm, compassionate lady who was caring and helpful to others. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Wales and loved serving God in her everyday life through her kind deeds. She had a passion for life and a wonderful sense of humor and formed many long-lasting friendships over the years.
Marian was married to her husband, Howard, for 69 years. She was a homemaker, his business partner, his secretary, and together they experienced a great life with many adventures. She helped make our house a home full of love and many wonderful memories growing up.
Marian also belonged to the Lions International Club with Howard and served tirelessly to help the blind with numerous fund raisers, events, on-site visits, and travel around the world. She additionally served the community through her 50-plus-year membership with her sorority, Beta Sigma Phi, and her membership with the Woman’s Club of Lake Wales.
Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Howard D. Towns, Jr. and her son, Howard D. “Don” Towns, III.
Her survivors include her daughter, Virginia Anne Schreier and her son-in-law, Joseph Edward Schreier of Lake Wales; her 6 grandchildren: Christina Anne Liberatore, Clinton Michael Walters, Richard Bradley Maness, Annalee Frances Towns Dendy, Matthew Donal Towns, and Andrew Brian Towns; her 5 great grandchildren: Bailee Makeena Maness, Zayne Christopher Borga, Landon James Liberatore, Adalee Grace Hartman, and Maura Hope Towns.
Viewing will be held from 9:00 – 9:30 a.m., and the funeral service will be held 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 20, 2018 at the old First Baptist Church on the corner of Central Ave. and South 4th Street in Lake Wales, FL with Rev. Barry Hooten and Rev. Charles Little officiating. Burial will be held at 1:30 P.M. Friday, July 20, 2018 at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
