Maria Cruz Castillo, 90

Maria Cruz Castillo of Frostproof passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at her residence.

She was born May 3, 1933 in Mexico to the late Pablo and Maria Martinez; she moved to Frostproof from Brownsville, Texas in 1978. Maria was a homemaker and attended Saint Catherine’s Catholic Church of Sebring. She enjoyed dancing and music. Overall else, she loved her family and grandchildren.

Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Juan Jose Castillo; daughter, Raquel Henson; and sons, Juan Jose Castillo, Jr., and Ricardo Castillo. She is survived by her daughters, Rosalinda Moreno, Diana Garcia, and Aurora Martinez; sons, Amado Castillo, Silvestre Castillo, Juan Castillo, Gilberto Castillo, and Javier Castillo; 26 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 5, 2023 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Family Life Church in Frostproof with Father Jose Gonzalez, Rev. Kelly Galati, and Pastor Michael Arms officiating. Interment will follow at Silver Hill Cemetery.
