Mrs. Margaret Ludene Whitehurst Courtney Caraway of Geneva, Alabama passed away Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Wiregrass Medical Center, from complications with pneumonia. She was 84.
Mrs. Caraway was born August 13, 1924 in Coffee County, Alabama to the late John Joseph and Minnie LouElla Harris Whitehurst. Her favorite pastime was crocheting and she also enjoyed canning vegetables, just to share with family and friends. She enjoyed attending the Samson Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, two sons, Donne Ray and William Paul Courtney; one daughter, JoAnn Courtney; her husband, Homer Caraway; three brothers, James, Grady and J.J. Whitehurst; one sister, Bertie Mae Hubbard; and step-son, Alvin J. Caraway, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Wanda (Milton) McKenzie and Connie Padgett all of Frostproof, FL; one sister, Bonnie Carter of Longwood, FL; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof.
