Margaret Carlene Briggs, 80

Margaret Carlene Briggs, 80, of Frostproof passed away Monday, February 15, 2021 in Lake Wales.

She was born May 28, 1940 in Frostproof to the late Carl and Margaret Phillips; she was a lifelong resident of the area. Carlene was a retired Legal Secretary for Marie Alice Crano Attorney and was an active member of the Church of Christ in Frostproof. She enjoyed spending her time volunteering at the Frostproof Historical Museum, but most of all, she loved her family.

Carlene was preceded in death by her husband, James Briggs in December of 2020; and brothers, James Phillips, and Charles Phillips. She is survived by her children, Damon (Donna) Nicholson of Frostproof, Shellie Nicholson Edstrom of Frostproof, Lisa (Paul) Shreve of Cary, North Carolina, Tracey Briggs of Pemberville, Ohio, and John (Debbie) Briggs of Bowling Green, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 19, 2021 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof. Interment will follow at Silver Hill Cemetery. The family has requested, if you wish, remembrance be made in the form of donations to Breast Cancer or Alzheimer’s organizations in Carlene Briggs name.
