Marcia Jeanette Blackmon, born on October 18, 1938, in Corbin, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026, at Lake Mariam Health and Rehab in Winter Haven, Florida. She lived a life full of purpose and dedication, leaving a rich legacy in her community.

Jeanette had a fulfilling career as a real estate agent and also sold Mary Kay for many years. She was known for her warmth and tremendous spirit, always eager to invest in the lives of youth and actively participating in various community initiatives. Her commitment to service is perhaps best reflected in her time as a member of First Baptist Church in Lake Wales, where she served with the Women's Ministry, taught Sunday School, and participated on many church committees.

Jeanette’s proudest accomplishments include twice serving as mayor of Lake Wales, making history as the first female mayor of the town. She was also instrumental in opening the credit union at Citrus World, now known as Florida’s Natural, further demonstrating her dedication to the community.

In her free time, Jeanette loved traveling, with a special affinity for cruises, where she enjoyed exploring new places and creating memories with loved ones.

She is survived by her son, Dave Blackmon, and his wife, Kathy of Lake Wales; her sister, Gloria Hodge of Old Towne; her brother, J.L. Chandler, and his wife, Marjorie of Old Towne; her granddaughters, Victoria Stevenson-Chavis and Alyssa Chandler; as well as her great-granddaughters, Kaia Jo Chandler and Khloe Elaine Chandler. Jeanette also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will cherish her memory.

Jeanette was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Blackmon; parents, Ben and Charlotte Chandler; and daughter-in-law, Rene.

A visitation will be held on February 28, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service starting at 3:00 PM at Southside Baptist Church, located at 314 South Scenic Highway, Frostproof, FL 33843.
