Major Josefina R. Rodriguez, 72

Major Josefina R. Rodriguez of Lake Wales passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Winter Haven Hospital.

She was born July 18, 1950 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic to the late Antonio and Teresa Reyes. Josefina pastored with her husband in The Salvation Army then pastored at The Hispanic Church of God. Prior to being a pastor, she was a middle school teacher in the Dominican Republic.

Josefina was proceeded in death by her husband, Rev. Ruben Rene Rodriguez; son, Ruben R. Rodriguez, Jr.; and brother, Jose Gabriel Reyes. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Rodriguez (Luis Eduardo Herrera) of Lake Wales; son, Wilson Rodriguez (Amy) of South Carolina; sisters, Justanerva Reyes, Carmen Rosa Reyes, Maricela Reyes, Martha Rosa Reyes, Elizabeth Reyes, Ruth Esther Polanco, and Yudelka “Donna” Ariza; brothers, Alfredo Reyes, Wilson Reyes, Jose Francisco Reyes, Gerson Reyes, David Reyes, Franklin Antonio Reyes, Radames Reyes, and Felix Reyes; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 26, 2023 at New Hope Baptist Church in Lake Wales with Rev. John Elias Padilla officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Wales Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Hispanic Church of God, Inc (P.O. Box 2305, Lake Wales, Florida 33859).
