Luis Manuel Rodríguez was born on October 11, 1932, in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico. He came to the United States in 1952, beginning a new chapter in his life that would see him build a family and community far from his birthplace. On May 20, 2026, Luis passed away at AdventHealth Lake Wales under the care of Vitas Hospice.
Luis was a dedicated worker who spent many years in the maintenance department of the World Trade Center before retiring. He was a family man through and through. Those who knew him would describe him as hardworking, kind, quiet, and funny. Despite living in a large city, he remained a simple country man at heart. His faith was an important part of his life, and he was a committed member of Saint Athanasius Catholic Church in Bronx, New York.
He leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Ana Mirta Rodriguez, who was his steadfast companion throughout his life’s journey. Together, they raised a family, including their daughter Luann Rodriguez-Azevedo and her husband Marcio of Lake Wales, and two sons: Luis M. Rodriguez, Jr. of New York, and Miguel A. Rodriguez of New York. Though dear Miguel A. Rodriguez, one of his sons, passed before him, Luis's legacy lives on through his other children, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Luis is also survived by his brothers, Eduardo Rodriguez of Orlando and Alfredo Rodriguez of New York, who shared in the memories of their youth and the bonds of family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Miguel Rodriguez and Antonia Feliciano, as well as two brothers and five sisters.
Luis Manuel Rodriguez lived a quiet but full life marked by devotion to his family, faith, and hard work. He will be remembered for his simple, kind spirit and the lasting impact he made on those who loved him.
A funeral mass is being scheduled at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Lake Wales Memorial Gardens. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.marionnelsonfuneralhome.com.
