LAKE WALES--Lucia Lopez Gomez of Lake Wales died of a stroke Saturday, January 27, 2007 at Good Shepherd Hospice. She was 78.

Born July 06, 1928 in Wilcox, AZ; she moved here from Uvalde, TX in 1964. She was a business woman with rental properties. She was a member of the Iglesia Baptist Church in Haines City. She was the former owner/operator of Puerto Libre Bar in Lake Wales. She enjoyed flower gardening and growing vegetables to put up and give away. She enjoyed going to Denny’s Restaurant, traveling and Spanish soap operas.

Mrs. Gomez was preceded in death by her husband, Pablo Gomez in 1951. Survivors include her companion, Felix D. Martinez of Lake Wales; sons, Salvador Lopez Gomez of Baxley, GA; Jose Lopez Gomez, Martin Suarez, Jr. and Arnulfo Lopez all of Lake Wales; brothers, Catalino Lopez of Douglas, GA; Jose Merced Lopez of Wahneta; sisters, Socorro Lopez of Del Rio, TX; Mercedes Lopez of Guadalaria, Mexico; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Monday, January 29, 2007 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at the funeral home with Rev. Victor Russ officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
