Louis J. “Lou” “Pop” Rausch, III of Port St. Lucie passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at St. Lucie Hospice House in Fort Pierce.
He was born February 26, 1924 in Evansville, IN to the late Louise J. Rausch II and Maude Rausch; he came to Lake Wales in 1988 from the Miami area and later moved to Port St. Lucie in 2007. He was a retired law enforcement officer from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Miami Police Department; he then served as the Executive Director of the Florida Police Chief’s Association. He was a veteran of World War II and Korea, serving in the U.S. Marine Corp and of the Evangelical Protestant faith. He loved playing golf, was an avid baseball and basketball fan and enjoyed watching the news.
Lou was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Rausch. Survivors include his daughter, Cheryl Galligos and husband, Paul of Tuscan, AZ; sons, Louis A. “Butch” Rausch and wife, Linda of Charlestown, IN and Louis “Jay” Rausch and wife, Marcy of Port St. Lucie; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 20, 2017 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Graveside service with military honors will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2017 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell with Pastor Johnny Soto officiating.
