Lonnie Edward Johns

Lonnie Edward Johns of Lake Wales passed away Friday, August 7, 2009 at the Winter Haven Hospital.

He was born April 21, 1941 in Wauchula to the late Wayne Ardell Johns Sr & Stella Schontag Johns. Following high school he served in the U.S. Navy, then joined the Florida Highway Patrol and was stationed in Miami for 7 years. He returned to this area and became an insurance agent, retiring from Life Of Georgia Insurance Company. He attended the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Wales and was a member of the Lake Wales Country Club. He was an avid golfer and served several terms as a president of the Men's Golf Association.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his sister, Odessa Johns Brown. Survivors include his wife, Lois Gallagher Faulkner Johns and a brother, Wayne A. Johns Jr of New Mexico.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 until 5:00 PM, Sunday, August 9, 2009 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. The funeral service will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, August 10, 2009 at the funeral home with Rev. Keith Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at the Bowling Green Cemetery.
