Lola D. Hughes, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully passed away on March 8, 2026, at her residence. She was born on April 10, 1947, in Greensboro, North Carolina, and moved to Lake Wales as a child. She was an Inventory Control Specialist for Florida Natural before retiring.

Lola was a true family person, relishing every moment spent with her loved ones. She was a fan of the Florida Gators and enjoyed watching NASCAR races. Her fondness for cookouts around the pool and trips to the Florida Keys showed her love for life and good times with family.

Lola is survived by her daughter, Connie Whitcomb of Lake Wales; her brothers, Ernest Manning and Dorman Manning, both of Frostproof; grandchildren, Matthew Cox and wife Heather, Tiffany Ratner and husband Jason, Kelsey Oller and fiance Jeffrey Grondin, Kaley Oller and partner Andrew Rollins, John Bullard, Jr. and wife Kelly, and Tony Bullard and companion Kortni Minotaur; and great-grandchildren, Paisley Cox, Jackson Shoemaker, Bailey Shoemaker, Oren Ratner, Derrick Bullard, Noralynn Grondin, and Zev Minotaur. Lola will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her son, John Bullard, Jr. who passed in 2012.

A memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.marionnelsonfuneralhome.com.
