Lois F. Johns

Lois F. Johns, 84, of Lake Wales passed away Sunday, February 2, 2014.

Mrs. Johns was born January 12, 1930 in New Haven, CT to William M. and Margaret Spose Gallagher. She was educated in New Haven and worked as a dental assistant for 36 years. She belonged to the New Haven Dental Assistant Association and served as president of the Connecticut State Dental Assistants Association. During this time she also had a career as a fashion model, walking runways in New Haven, New York City and Lake Wales.

Mrs. Johns lived in Cutchogue, NY and Myrtle Beach, SC before moving to Lake Wales with her first husband. During this time she learned to play golf, volunteered at the Lake Wales Hospital, Bok Tower Gardens and Guardian Ad Litem. She belonged to the Lake Wales County Club and scored a hole in one on the 5th hole at Lake Wales Country Club on July 20, 1991.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Dr. Newton E. Faulkner and Lonnie E. Johns. She is survived by her brother, William M. Gallagher; sister-in-law, Nancy L. Gallagher; her nephew, Dan Gallagher; and nieces, Pat, Meg and Beth Gallagher.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 6:00 pm Thursday, February 6, 2014 and the funeral service will be held 10:00 am Friday, February 7, 2014 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
