Lionel R. Forbes

Lionel R. Forbes of Lake Wales passed away Thursday, July 21, 2011 at the Life Care Center of Winter Haven.

He was born September 11, 1918 in Asheville, NC to the late William Wesley & Phoebe (Alford) Forbes; he came here from Bradley Junction in 1953. He was a retired railroad engineer for C.S.X., a member of the West Side Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret V. "Boots" Forbes; daughter, Ann Wood of Lakeland; son, Michael R. Forbes of Lake Wales; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until the funeral service at 1:00 pm, Monday, July 25, 2011 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
