Lewis Wilbert Kerrn, 86, passed into the loving arms of our Savior, Friday, July 21, 2023.
He was born July 6, 1937, in Pittsburgh, Pa, and spent his childhood in Key West. After serving his country in the U.S. Air Force, Wilbert moved to Plant City, living there for many years until he met his loving & devoted wife, Judy (Messer) Kerrn, and moved to Lake Wales. Wilbert was a skilled mechanic and electrician, belonging to IBEW local 108. At one point he ran his own mobile mechanic garage, “Road Runner", but later worked as an electrician on ships out of Tampa Bay. But Wilbert's best job was being a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He loved his wife and family, including extended family, and they never had any doubt about it.
After 7 years of marriage, Wilbert and Judy were blessed with raising five grandchildren: Jennifer (Chris) Roberts, Amie Sanders, Becky (Jason) Purvis, Katie Sanders and Cory (Anna) Coker, a task they embraced fully. Wilbert enjoyed looking up relatives and acquaintances he hadn't seen in years and giving them a call. He was always there for anybody needing a hand. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, working on his treasured Massey Ferguson tractor and his red 2000 Chevy Silverado. In later years he amended most of his “hunting" trips to sitting in his truck and reading while the deer roamed around him or running his 4-wheeler through the woods and enjoying nature.
Wilbert will be sorely missed by his wife of 28 years, his daughters, Barbara Nelson, Laurie (Donald) Conroy, Darlene (John) Sellars, and Christie (Mike) Luszczewski, and his son, Kevin Kerrn. His other much-loved grandkids include Amanda Godwin, Courtney Miller, Rien Kerrn, Anna Conroy, Carlee Luszczewski, Jordan Luszczewski, Darrien Kerrn, Camden Kerrn, Austin Luszczewski, Jennifer Clevenger and Cole Snowden, as well as his many great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at First Christian Church of Babson Park at 11:00 a.m., with a fellowship meal to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Missionary Fund of First Christian Church of Babson Park (1295 North Scenic Highway, Babson Park, Florida 33827) would be appreciated.
