Leona Ellen Leathers

Leona E. "Lee" Leathers of Lake Wales (formally of Island Falls, ME) passed away Friday, April 2, 2010 at her daughters residence in Lake Wales.

She was born November 26, 1943 in Lincoln, Maine to the late Olney Libby and Alice (Ireland) Libby; and came here from Maine in 1986. She was a homemaker, of the Baptist faith and a member of the Women of the Moose. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, fishing and traveling.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Leathers Sr. in 1999 and sisters, Joyce and Patricia.

Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Shaffer and husband Randy of Lake Wales; sons, Edward Leathers Jr. and wife Nancy of Island Falls, ME, Larry Leathers of Winter Haven, FL and Eric Leathers of Huntsville, AL; companion, Everett "Smitty" Smith; sisters, Carolyn Moore of Mattawamkeag, ME and Donna Bryant of OR; brother, Eldon Libby of Texas; 4 grandchildren, Rachel Sullivan, Dominique King, Wesley Leathers and Lee Shaffer; 2 great-grandchildren, Byron and Jordan Waupoose.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, April 5, 2010 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 1:00 PM until service time.
