Self-Employed Chemist

Leo F. “Bud” Metz, 78, of Winter Haven passed away Sunday, February 3, 2008 at Spring Lake Nursing Home.

Born November 19, 1929 in Shelby County, Ohio, he came to Lake Wales in 2001 from Columbus, Ohio and moved to Winter Haven in 2004. He was a retired self-employed chemist, a member of the Winter Haven Worship Center, and a veteran of Korea, serving in the U.S. Marines. He graduated from Capital University in Columbus, OH with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. He was a member of the American Legion Post #8 in Winter Haven and prior to his illness was active in the Winter Haven Senior’s Center. He also enjoyed gardening and woodworking.

Survivors include his daughters, Leigh Ann Heneen of Winter Haven; Melissa Jongjaroenlarp of Escondido, CA; Melanie Edgar of Santa Barbara, CA; Leslie Herdrich of Green Valley, AZ; brother, Rod Metz of Sun Valley, CA; sisters, Betty Metz of North Hollywood, CA; Evelyn Friedman of Columbus, OH; and six grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 16, 2008 at the Winter Haven Worship Center.
