Laverne Hood Stinson, 88

Laverne Hood Stinson of Lake Wales passed away Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Winter Haven Hospital.

She was born December 23, 1934 in Mooreville, Mississippi to the late Jeff and Lillie Hood. Laverne was a homemaker. She was a member of the Frostproof Church of God where she was a pianist and Sunday School Teacher. Laverne was an excellent cook, homemaker, and a very talented musician. She enjoyed gardening and loved her family dearly.

Laverne was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Eugene Stinson in 2016; and her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Benson of Greenville, South Carolina, Karen Calvin and husband Steve of Babson Park, Angel McGhee of Lake Alfred; sons, Vic Jones and wife Jan of Frostproof, and Chris Stinson and wife Alice of Avon Park; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many well loved nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 31, 2023 at Frostproof Church of God with Rev. Sam Haag officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Wales Cemetery.
