Lauretta M. Bayer of Lake Wales passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at her residence.
She was born August 13, 1920 in Long Point, IL to the late Henry A. & Alma M. (Gillman) Bridges; and came here from Blackstone, IL in 1995. She was a retired postmaster in Blackstone, IL and a member of the First Methodist Church in Lake Wales. She was also a member of the National Association of Postmasters of the United States, was a Red Hat Lady and enjoyed traveling and shopping.
Lauretta was preceded in death by her husband, Fred D. Bayer in 1995 and a brother, Wayne Bridges. Survivors include her daughter, Judy C. & husband, Wes Whitcomb of Lake Wales; son, David W. Bayer of Carrolton, MO; sister, Chlora Edwards of Streator, IL; brothers, Lyle Bridges of Deer Creek, IL and Gene Bridges of Columbia, TN; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 21, 2011 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Rev. Jeffrey Kantz officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
