MANASSAS, Va. -- Mrs. Laureta L. Spurlock of Manassas, Va., formerly of Polk County, died of lung failure Tuesday (May 30, 2006) at Prince William Hospital in Manassas. She was 80.

Born in Fort Meade on Feb. 24, 1926, she lived in Frostproof before moving to Manassas, Va., 17 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Frostproof.

Mrs. Spurlock was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Spurlock. She is survived by her daughters, Darlene Taylor, Bristow, Va., Jean Brackin, Cross Junction, Va.; sister, Betty Kersey, Orange Park; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof. Services will follow at 10 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Silver Hill Cemetery in Frostproof.
