Laura Alice Jean

Laura Alice Jean, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on August 5, 2026, at her daughter’s home in Babson Park, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on March 26, 1948, in Moultrie, Georgia, Laura spent her life deeply committed to those around her, displaying remarkable strength, selflessness, and generosity.

Over the course of 40 years, Laura dedicated herself as a server at Sonny's BBQ, where she was known for her warmth and professionalism. She took great pride in her work and cherished her Sonny’s family and customers, making a positive impact on both her colleagues and regular patrons alike. Her commitment and hardworking spirit left an indelible mark on her community.

In addition to her commitment to her career and family, Laura had a zest for life and embraced every moment. She loved fishing, shopping, and especially going on outings with her girls. These cherished times were filled with laughter and joy, reflecting Laura’s love for her children—her greatest priority. Her generosity and selflessness were felt by everyone who knew her, and her strength inspired those around her.

Laura’s life was defined by her steadfast devotion to her family. She was a loving and supportive wife to her husband, Robert Jean, and a devoted mother to her children—Tammy Doby (Ricky), Vickie Thomas, Travis Upshaw (Stacey), Robert Jean III (Brittni), and Kaleb Jean. Her sisters, Mary Ann Keller and Carolyn Howard; 15 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren also survive her, cherishing her memory and the unique bond they shared.

Laura was predeceased by her father, Ralph Glover; her mother, Lola Glover; her beloved son, Dewayne Lewis; and her brothers, Lamar Glover and RJ Glover.
