Larry W. Morton, 87
God has called a wonderful man home. Larry W. Morton of Frostproof, FL passed away on Friday, September 9, 2022. He loved and was loved by family who surrounded him in life and at death.
Larry was born in Benton, Kentucky on August 5, 1935 to his parents, Noble and Lyda who instilled high Christian values of love of God, family, and community which he passed on to his children.
After working many years, sometimes working three jobs at a time, he fulfilled his dream of a roving retirement by touring this grand and beautiful country in a 33 foot motor home with June and finally settling down at Southern Pines Mobile Home Park where he came to be lovingly referred to as “The Mayor of Southern Pines”.
He was a member of the Frostproof Church of Christ where he served as a song leader and previously served as a deacon, and as an elder in his church in South Bend, Indiana.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, June; children, Barbara (Dan) Bell, David (Cindy), Daniel (Karen), Betty (Jim) Krause, and Beth (Mark) Smith; twelve grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Linda Heston and Cheryl (Bill) Walker.
A visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. until the funeral service at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof.
