Larry Boles died on Tuesday, April 30, following a one-year battle with lung cancer.
He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas December 4, 1938 then moved to Kingsville, Texas at age 4. He graduated with a Master’s Degree in Physics from Texas A&I University (now Texas A&M, Kingsville). Larry moved to Austin, Texas in 1967 and took a position with a nuclear research facility. He spent the next several years working on a Dept. of Defense contract with Brooks AFB, San Antonio, studying effects of space radiation using primates. He moved to Orlando, FL in 1973 and was employed by the Naval Research Laboratory on naval weaponry for 21 years. After taking early retirement in 1994, he began teaching Astronomy and Physics at Valencia Community College, as well as Seminole State College and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He moved to the Lake Ashton community in Lake Wales in 2005 and retired from teaching in 2008.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Edie; son Scott; and three grandchildren, grandson Larry Christopher and granddaughters Raisa and Lyra Sarah Boles; and one brother, Weldon Boles.
A private service will be held at a later date.
