Lanier A. "Mac" McQueen, 85, of Frostproof, formerly of Hemingway, South Carolina and Vero Beach, FL passed away peacefully Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Winter Haven Hospital surrounded by loving family and very supportive hospital and hospice staff
He was born November 14, 1924 in Indiantown, SC to Garvin and Ophelia McQueen. He was a retired truck driver, of the Protestant faith and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force.
Lanier is survived by his wife of 60 years, Thelma Osborne McQueen; children, Karen M. Barkiewiez (Mike) of Pinellas Park, Kendall McQueen of Frostproof, Bonnie McNelly of Vero Beach, Shasta Thomason of Fort Pierce; 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, October 26, 2010 and the funeral service will be held 3:00 PM, Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof with Rev. Kelly Galati officiating. Interment will follow at the Silver Hill Cemetery.
