Lance H. Gainey of Lake Wales passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.
He was born November 30, 1933 in Darlington to the late Robert & Esther Gainey; and he came to the area 60 years ago from Darlington. He was retired from Floyd’s Alternator/Starter and was a member of the Central Avenue Baptist Church. He enjoyed his church and was a passionate flower and vegetable gardener.
Lance was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Gainey; sister, Maxine Gibbs; and two grandchildren, Jared and Dustin Williams. Survivors include his daughters, Cheryl Bryant and husband, David of Lake Wales and Carol Williams and husband, John of Lake Wales; brothers, Thomas Gainey of Bartow, Leon Gainey of Tennessee and Ken Gainey of Darlington; five grandchildren, Brett Bryant, Heath Williams, Ashley Khairy, Garrett Bryant and Hunter Williams; and three great-grandchildren, Colin, Cole and Brighton.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2016 at the Central Avenue Baptist Church in Lake Wales with Rev. Larry Matheny and David Bryant officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
