LAKE WALES -- Mr. Lake S. "Bud" Swain Jr. of Lake Wales died of cancer Saturday (April 22, 2006) at The Groves Center. He was 73.

Born Sept. 8, 1932, in Washington, D.C., he came to Lake Wales from Lincoln, Maine, 13 years ago. He was a retired elevator mechanic for the federal General Services Administration. He was a Baptist.

Mr. Swain is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara D. Swain; daughters, Cherie Lynne Hatton, Waldorf, Md., Cynthia Dawn Brown, Brandywine, Md., and Laurie Ann Jobst, Wilkes Barre, Pa.; sisters, Betty Jean Harmon, Dunkirk, Md., and Mary Louise Hamilton, Waldorf; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 6:30 p.m. May 3 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Burial will be at a later date in Charles Memorial Gardens in Leonardtown, Md.
