LAKE WALES--Kathleen Sefton Zilahy of Lake Wales died Tuesday January 30, 2007 at the Life Care Center of Winter Haven. She was 84.
Born May 26 1922 in Missouri Valley Iowa to Luree Fitch Petersen and George Petersen, she moved to Lake Wales in 1955 from Pensacola Florida. She was a registered nurse who had worked at the Lake Wales Hospital, the Lake Wales Convalescent Center, and served as a private practice nurse for Dr. Fred Rawlings for a number of years. She was an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Lake Wales. She also was an avid volunteer helping out with Meals on Wheels, the Thrift Shop, and a greeter at the hospital. She enjoyed working in the garden, sewing, knitting, and most of all devoting her life to nurturing her children.
Mrs. Zilahy was preceded in death by her son Steven Drew Sefton in 1966. Survivors include two daughters: Susan (Morgan) of Lake Wales and Sally (Johnston) of Maui Hawaii two sons Gary Sefton of Cornersville, Tennessee and Greg Sefton of Lake City Florida. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Steven Morgan, Darren Morgan, Gary Sefton Junior, and Anneka Johnston.
A service of Thanksgiving for the life of Kathleen Zilahy will be held Saturday, February 10th at 11 a.m. in the garden of The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in her name.
