Kathleen C. Carr “Kathy”, 84, of Lake Wales, Florida passed away peacefully Monday, October 17, 2022, at Adventhealth, New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
She was born September 27, 1938, in Pahokee, Florida to the late Robert and Elsie (Trussell) Culberson, She was a retired Special Education assistant teacher for the Osceola County School District and enjoyed encouraging her students. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Wales.
Kathy was mission minded and spent many Sunday afternoons teaching the Bible at the migrant camps of Central Florida. Throughout her life she taught Sunday School, Training Union, sang in the church choir and often counseled the neighborhood ladies over coffee and her “picture perfect” pies. She enjoyed visiting church members in the hospital and nursing homes and was always ready with a verse or passage of scripture to encourage others. She took joy in writing to her grandchildren and keeping up with their activities and interests. As a loving mother she always took time to listen and encourage with Godly wisdom. Even after her memory was affected she never forgot Who Jesus was and never lost her gentle spirit.
She was a lifetime member of the Sebring Historical Society and a contributing member of the Special Olympics.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James S. Carr and her brother Robert Herbert Culberson, Jr.
She is survived by her sisters and best friends, Barbara Pearson and Ina Culberson; her daughters, Cynthia Leddon and her husband, Joe of Cleveland, Tennessee, Cheri’ Greenhalgh and her husband, Gordon of Edgewater, Florida, and Carla Maisonet and her husband Guy of Edgewater, Florida; her grandchildren Brittany Allen, Caitlyn Ludwig, Jason Leddon, Daniel Robison, Sarah Marquis, Elisabeth Harvey, Noah Robison, Kyle Greenhalgh, Erin Cecchetti, Rook Maisonet, Rebecca Franjoine, and Hannah Hill; her nephews, Robert Pearson and his wife Vicki, Kent Pearson, and Daniel Culberson and his wife, Lori; and 18 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, October 24, 2022, with funeral services at 11:00 AM at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home of Lake Wales with Dr. Scott Markley officiating. In lieu of flowers family request donations may be made to Circle of Friends Ministry, Inc.,
