Katherine (Kay) Rose Brobst, age 82, of Lake Wales, FL formerly of Springville, PA passed away Sunday, October 31, 2010 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, FL after a lengthy illness.

Kay was born November 28, 1927 in Berwick, PA daughter of the late Harry and Catherine Chomen; wife of the late David C. Brobst, who predeceased her in March 2001. They were married for 56 years. Also those gone to be with our Lord prior to her were daughter, Karen (Brobst) Ferris in June 2008, brother, Harry, and sisters, Mary, Sophie and Terry.

They moved to Lake Wales in 1990 after Kay retired from Bendix Corp South Montrose, PA after 37 years of service. She bowled on the Bendix Bowling League. She also sold Avon for many years and was an avid deer hunter for years. The 3 items she most enjoyed was her flower gardens, cooking and baking.

Kay was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a very friendly and generous person. She was always willing to help anyone in need.

Her greatest joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the time she spent with them.

She is survived by her son and his wife, Roger and Elizabeth (Oatridge) Brobst of Pottstown, PA; daughters, Deborah (Brobst) Fauver and companion, Rodney Harvey of Lake Wales, FL with whom she resided and were her caregivers, Terry Brobst of Endicott, NY, Linda Rockwell, who was Karen's friend and caretaker of Montrose, PA; granddaughters and husbands, Lisa (Brobst) and Mark Emery of Avondale, PA, Lindsey (Brobst) and William McHugh of Pottstown, PA and Shannon (Fauver) and Evan Langston of Weatherford, TX; grandson and wife, Justin and Deanna (Hunsinger) Fauver of Laceyville, PA; and great-grandchildren, Tristen Aaron Messenger of Pottstown, PA, Brooke Elizabeth Emery of Avondale, PA and Deagon David Fauver of Laceyville, PA. Also surviving are 2 brothers and many nieces, nephews and good friends, Mary Aho and John Berry.

Private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at Orcutt's Cemetery in Noxen, PA.

Once moving to Florida, they became active in the Lake Wales Homemakers Club and Keenagers groups. Those of us that knew Kay and her generosity, she devoted many hours to the Lake Wales Care Center. This is a group of numerous ministries that help local people in many capacities. She liked volunteering in their Surplus Store, where she helped those less fortunate find affordable clothing and household items.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to The Lake Wales Care Center (140 Park Avenue, Lake Wales, FL 33853, note to Surplus Thrift Store) or The Springville Volunteer Fire Dept. (P.O. Box 107, Springville, PA 18844, note for use on Safety Gear).
