Karen Elaine Albritton

Karen Hewett Albritton, 80, passed away Monday, August 8, 2022, at The Club Health and Rehabilitation Center in The Villages, Florida.

She was born June 3, 1942, in Centerburg, Ohio to her parents Earl and Julia Hewett. Karen and her husband, James David Albritton, most recently resided in Clermont, Florida, after living many years in Miami and Orlando.

Karen completed a master's degree in Business Management from Rollins College and a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of South Florida. She worked for several years as a Marketing Research Analyst for Royal Caribbean International Cruise Line. Earlier in her career, Karen held various positions in Orlando art galleries, including teaching an art appreciation class. She also taught business management at Brevard Community College in Cocoa, Florida. Karen’s interests were many and varied. She adored bird watching and was an avid reader. She also had a deep love for all animals and our beautiful planet, and regularly supported organizations dedicated to these causes. A gifted artist, Karen had showings of her paintings in multiple galleries in Florida. She was a skilled seamstress and was very active in the American Sewing Guild (ASG). Karen made beautiful clothing for herself, and she shared her talents with others through private lessons, and through ASG projects that benefited several charitable organizations.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Raetta Hewett. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, James David Albritton, of Clermont, Florida, 7 cousins including Patty Garcia and Mary Bloch with whom she stayed in frequent contact, 2 brothers-in-law and 3 sisters-in-law: Art and Nita Albritton of Winter Haven, Marjorie Alder of Lake Wales and Bill and Toni Albritton of Winter Haven, and many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by all.
