Juanita Hayes

Juanita Hayes of Lake Wales passed away Friday, December 25, 2015 at Grace Healthcare. She was born November 5, 1922 in Blakely, GA to the late Andrew Lee & Johnnie Hays McDonald; and she came to Polk County 67 years ago from Blakely, GA. Juanita retired from Citrus World after 32 years and was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church prior to her illness. She enjoyed cooking, caring for her family and taking care of her yard. Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Hayes; son, Jerald Hayes; a grandson, Chris Hayes; three brothers and three sisters. Survivors include her daughter, Janice Colvin of Crawfordville; sons, Jerry L. Hayes (Mary) of Rio Rancho, NM and Mike Hayes of Lake Wales; sisters, Emma Murkerson of Lucille, GA, Ouida DuBose (Wayne) of Albany, GA and Margie Tiner of Blakely, GA; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
