Joyce L. Hutchinson

Joyce L. Hutchinson of Lake Wales passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at the Winter Haven Health & Rehab Center.

She was born January 31, 1915 in Hartford, AL to the late John Ivey & Bama (Patterson) Savage; she moved to Waverly in1935 and came to Lake Wales in 1937. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Lake Wales. She was a member of the Garden Club, the Homemakers Extension Service and the Writers Club and had several articles and short stories published. She was a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher and enjoyed photography and painting. Following their retirement, she and her husband enjoyed traveling and visited 48 states, Canada and Mexico.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Hutchinson in 2004. Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Bevis (Husband-Henry) of Lake Wales; son, Dennis Hutchinson of Lake Wales; brother, John Ivey Savage Jr of Georgia; 2 grandchildren, Heather Bryant (Husband-Tab) and Stephanie Mortus (Husband-Marty) and 3 great-grandchildren, Avery, Adam and Austin.

A memorial services will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, March 20, 2009 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Rev. Barry Hooten officiating.
