Josephina Gonzales

Josephina Gonzales of Frostproof passed away Monday, October 11, 2010 at the University Community Hospital in Land-O-Lakes after a short but tough battle with cancer.

She was born September 19, 1943 in Edcouch, Texas to the late Manuel Garza and Paula Viez; she came here from Michigan 31 years ago. She was a homemaker and was a very active member at the God's Family Assembly Church in Frostproof. She liked flowers and plants; she could make anything grow. She made dresses for her family and friends and was a great cook. Most of all, she was a great wife, mother and grandmother.

Josephina was preceded in death by her son, Julian Gonzales and a brother, Julian Garza. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Julian E. Gonzales; daughters, Ruby Weese of Frostproof and Sabrina Stewart of Frostproof; sons, Francisco Gonzales of Lake Wales, Ricardo Gonzales of Marianna, Christoval Gonzales of Frostproof and Carlos Gonzales of Frostproof; godson, Daniel Schmidt of Crossville, TN; sisters, Eva Banda, Sara Longoria, Esther Hinajosa, Elizabeth Juarez, Virginia Schooler and Lydia Puente; brothers, Manuel Garza, Moses Garza, Adam Garza and Paul Garza; 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Friday, October 15, 2010 and the funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 16, 2010 at the God's Family Assembly Church in Frostproof with Rev. Eddie Roberts and Rev. Wrynn Collins. Interment will follow at the Silver Hill Cemetery.
