Joseph L. “Joe” Walker, Jr. 69, of Fort Meade passed away Monday, April 28, 2014 at his residence.

He was born March 4, 1945 to the late Joseph L. Walker, Sr. and Annie Ruth (Mann) Walker and has been a lifelong resident of the area. He was a telephone repairman for Verizon for 22 years. Joe was one of the most honest men, his family was always first. He loved to plant and grow as well as tend to his cows and horse, he was an extremely hard worker, proud of his country and loved his family; he was a graduate of Lake Wales High School and was in ROTC; Joe was a graduate of Clemson University in South Carolina, was a veteran of Vietnam serving in the US Army and of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Walker. He is survived by his wife of 11 1/2 years Dawn Gay Walker; daughter, Kristin Michelle Beaudua and husband, Matt of St. Augustine, FL;Step Son Keith (Lori) Dossey of North Carolina,Step daughter Cheryl (BJ) Woods of Lakeland, Fl. grandchildren, Lincoln and Killian Beaudua; step grandchildren, Ashley Daughtry, Brandon and Christian Woods.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
Family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00 PM until service time.
