Joseph Spivey

Joseph W. “Big Joe” Spivey, Sr. 82 of Lake Wales passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013 at Grace Health Care.

He was born June 3, 1931 in Lyons, Georgia to the late John W. and Minnie Bell (Hester) Spivey and has been a resident of this area since 1946 moving here from Savannah, GA., Joseph was a Machinist, Welder, Tool and Die Maker. He enjoyed music, family time and watching the news, He was a veteran of Korea serving in the US Army and was a member of Family Life Church in Frostproof.

Joseph was preceded in death by his wife Alene Joan Spivey in 2004 and his son, Joseph W. Spivey, Jr.

Survivors include his Daughters, Sharyn Ann and husband Rollie McCann of Lakeland, Susan Marie and husband Rodney Smith of Lake Wales; Son, Robin K. and wife Holly Spivey of Lake Wales; Sister, Moreen DuBose of Savannah, GA.; Brothers, Waymon Spivey of Tyler, TX; James Spivey of Broken Arrow, OK; 11 Grandchildren , 12 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM Monday, July 1, 2013 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home with Rev. Kelly Galati officiating. Interment will be held at the Lake Wales Cemetery.

Family will receive friends on Sunday June 30, 2013 from 3:00 until 5:00 PM at Marion Nelson Funeral Home of Lake Wales
