Mr. Joseph Carter, Sr., 75

Mr. Joseph Carter, Sr., the son of the late Mrs. Annie B. Sanders of whom preceded him in death, was born March 10, 1945 in Mitchell County, Georgia. He attended the Mitchell County Public School system. Joseph at a young age decided to move to Homestead, FL where he worked at Kendall Package House for 20 years. Then he moved to Frostproof, FL and started working for Hunt Brothers for another 20 years before he retired. Later on Joseph’ health started failing him. He then was placed in The Groves Center in Lake Wales, FL in 2015. Later on through the years on Friday, June 19, 2020 he was called home at AdventHealth in Lake Wales.

He leaves to cherish his memory with his wife of 53 years, Edna M. Carter and children, Carl Lee Smith of Frostproof, Joseph Carter, Jr. (Jamila) of Pensacola, David Carter Sr, of whom preceded him in death, Stacy Carter (Amanda) of Frostproof, Raymond Carter of Frostproof and Jack McCormick of Miami. His brothers and sisters, Aarron, Willie Lee, David, Maggie, Diane all of Panama City, Freddie, Roy (Lois) of Miami, Catherine of Palham, GA, Ivette (Randy) of Pensacola, and Sally preceded him in death. His in laws, Bobby (Edna) Pearlie (Perry), Tim (Tynise), Odell, Mary, C.W. Jr. all of Cairo, GA, Grady (Willa) of Abbeville, GA, and he was preceded in death by Willie and Lucious. He also had 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, and close cousin, Diane Frost.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday, June 23 and Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home, 196 Highway 630 East, Frostproof, FL 33843.
