Jose Liborio “Chon” Torres, 17

Jose Liborio “Chon” Torres of Frostproof passed away in Frostproof.

He was born January 25, 2006 in Sebring and has been a lifelong resident of Frostproof. Jose was a football player for the city league of Frostproof and Frostproof Senior Middle High School. He also played soccer and was on the weightlifting team. In his spare time, he loved fishing.

Jose is survived by his parents, Angelina Maria Mejia  and Antonio Martinez Benitez; sister, Valerie Martinez Mejia of Frostproof; brother, Mario Antonio Torres; aunt, Shawna Garcia (Roberto); uncles, Michael Mejia (Sami Rodriguez), and Jesus Mejia (Susie); grandparents, Wanda Martinez, Liborio Mejia, and Carla Mejia; and cousins, Vivi, Miguel, Carla, Tristen, and Israel.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2023 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 24, 2023 at New Hope Church in Frostproof with Pastor Landon McCallister officiating.
