Johnnie Nichols “Nick” Raulerson, 88, died Tuesday, April 08, 2008 of cancer.

He was born Dec 22, 1919, in Fort Meade, FL, to John William and Fannie Thornton Raulerson. He was a 1930 graduate of Frostproof High School, Frostproof, FL. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in World War II and in the Korean War, receiving a Bronze Star. He retired in 1966 from the 3rd Armor Division in Fort Knox, Kentucky. He also served in Fort Benning, Georgia, until 1952. He served in Hanau, Germany from 1952 to 1955, he served with the Rangers again at Fort Benning, Georgia from 1955 to 1959, and he served with the 1st Armor Division in Friedberg, Germany, from 1959 to 1962. After retiring he settled with his family in Orlando, FL, and worked as the Security Guard at the Citizens Bank in Orlando. In 1970 he became the first mailman at Disney World, and later went to work as a driver for the Navy Hospital. In 1989 he and his wife settled in Polk County, FL. He was a beloved member of the Corinth Primitive Baptist Church in Bereah, FL.

He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Maxine Raulerson, his brother William Rufus Raulerson and daughter Sherry Maxine Raulerson. He is survived by his wife Opal; daughters Janette M. Raulerson and Marla Kay Raulerson, son Johnnie N. Raulerson, Jr. and wife Sherry; grandchildren Melanie Diaz, Lisa Cruzan, Johnnie N. Raulerson III, and Paul Muir. Survivors also include nine great grandchildren.

At his request there will be no public service, a private family memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Good Shepherd Hospice, envelopes for both are available at the funeral home.
