JOHN STALEY WHITLOCK, 88
John Staley Whitlock of Lake Wales passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Sebring.
He was born January 13, 1931 in Waynesboro, PA to the late Daniel and Edna Whitlock. He spent his early years in Pennsylvania and Maryland; and came to Lake Wales from Virginia Beach 18 years ago. He enlisted at age 17 and served in the United States Navy for over 20 years. His last tour of duty was on the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, which is now decommissioned. He enjoyed watching old westerns, NCIS and Bull in his “Man Cave”; and going to dinner with his family.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Marsha “Sweetie” Whitlock. Survivors include his two sisters, Victoria Whitlock of Belaire, MD and Rebecca Cody of Belaire, MD; son, Joe Piccolo (Barbara) of Cumming, GA; daughter, Angie Williams (Don) of Lake Wales; two granddaughters, Robin Sanderson (Rusty) and Stephanie Smith (Brian), two grandsons, Joel and Chad Piccolo; five great-grandchildren, Dustin and Christopher Dawson, Logan and Chandler Smith and Macy A. (Lemonade) Sanderson. He also has many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was truly loved by all of them. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to American Kidney Fund, the American Diabetes Association or the Good Shepherd Hospice House (Somers Hospice House) at 1110 Hammock Road, Sebring, FL 33870, phone number is 863-402-1066.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 11, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home Chapel in Lake Wales.  Private services are scheduled at a later date.
