John “Wayne” Zoffay, 71

John “Wayne” Zoffay of Frostproof passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at his residence.

He was born December 28, 1949, in Gainesville to the late John and Margaret Zoffay. Wayne was a citrus grove owner and the Vice Mayor and City Council Member for the City of Frostproof. He had a deep love and appreciation for Frostproof, and was very active in the community, especially the youth. Wayne’s family were members of the First Presbyterian Church of Frostproof and donated the funds for the church to get the chimes that could be heard throughout Frostproof.

Wayne is survived by his daughter, Andrea Zoffay of Haines City; sister, Yvonne Mourfield and husband Alan of Macon, Georgia; friend and caregiver, Debbie Williams; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations in his honor may be made to the Presbyterian Church of Frostproof "Chimes Fund" (Post Office Box 126, Frostproof, Florida 33843) to repair the chimes so they can be heard again by the community.
