John Franklin Upchurch Sr., 70, of Lake Wales passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Lake Wales Medical Center in Lake Wales.

Born December 3, 1937 in Lake Wales, FL; he was a lifelong resident of Lake Wales. He was a retired Master Mechanic for IMC for 30 years, of the Baptist faith, and served in the National Guard. He loved baseball and fishing and coached little league for many years with his wife.

John was preceded by his wife, Carol Upchurch; son, N.O. Upchurch; and sisters, Doris and Carl Johans, Alice Segloski and Martha Anderson. Survivors include his daughter, Ashley Upchurch of Lake Wales; sons, Richie Upchurch, Buddy Upchurch, Joey Upchurch, N.O. Upchurch Jr. and Jonathian Upchurch all of Lake Wales; sister, Betty Browning of Waterloo, NY; 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until service time at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home, Lake Wales with Rev. Walter Nelson officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
