John R. Shay, 86

John R. Shay of Orlando passed away Friday, May 3, 2024 at AdventHealth Orlando.

He was born February 24, 1938 in Watseka, Illinois to Edgar Shay and Beulah (nee Sibert) Shay.  He graduated from Harper High School in 1956.  His career as an Architect over the years took him from Chicago to Orlando, Houston, Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, Tampa and finally back to Orlando, where he retired.  John loved cars, books, music, computers, Lego models and Star Wars.

John was preceded in death by his lifelong companion and the love of his life, Diane Voss; step-daughter, Deborah Voss Grumish; and parents, Edgar and Beulah Shay. He is survived by his step-children, Kimberly Riley of Houston, Texas, Tracy Rentz and husband Bill of Orlando, and Bridget Voss LaChance and husband George of Houston, Texas; step-son, Kelly Voss and wife Tina of Casselberry; and several step-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Lake Wales Cemetery next to Diane.
