John William Pickels

John W. Pickels, 86 of Oakland Park, Florida passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014 at his residence.

He was born April 23, 1928 in Frostproof, Florida to the late Russell J. and Penina R. (Barker) Pickels. He was a retired clerk for the US Postal Service and was a veteran in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and boating and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Lake Wales and D.A.V. and was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

He is preceded in death by his wife Gwen Pickels and brother Lyndon Pickels.

Survivors include his son Michael W. Pickels of Oakland Park, FL, sisters Joyce Smith of Madison County, FL, Jean Ferrell of Live Oak, Fl.

Graveside service will be held 1:00PM Friday, January 2, 2015 at Silver Hill Cemetery in Frostproof, Fl.
